Micromega Publications will host a four day Durban Book Fair from 24 to 27 April 2020.
The four day 2020 Durban Book Fair is an extension of the monthly Durban Book Fair which takes place on the first Sunday of every month and has been running for just over two years.
The outcomes and achievements of The Durban Book Fair thus far, have been recognised by the National Arts Council (NAC). The NAC has contributed the seed capital to make the 2020 Durban Book Fair a reality.
We are also pleased that the ACT Foundation (which regularly provide free cancer screening at the Durban Book Fair) have come aboard to sponsor a series of workshops for writers at the 2020 Durban Book Fair. The 2020 Durban Book Fair will be held from 24 to 27 April 2020 with a launch of a book “26 Years of Freedom” on April 27, Freedom Day. On 27 April 2019, Micromega Publications launched “25 Years of Freedom” which featured the poetry of ordinary South Africans. “26 Years of Freedom” will be a collection of both poetry and short-stories.
The aim of The 2020 Durban Book Fair is to promote a culture of reading in Durban and to give local writers and publishers a platform to market their work.
Durban has been declared a UNESCO City of Literature. The 2020 Durban Book Fair, a grassroots initiative, promoting mostly new writers will add value to Durban’s UNESCO City of Literature status.
